These are “children” of India, right? Are there any girls in India? These all look like boys.
India is one of those countries where – at least among a large percentage of the population – girls are for marrying off, and that’s about it. Follow the link to the original source, and you’ll find a poster of women’s occupations. I noticed with interest that most of said professions were of the secretarial or menial level, except doctors and nurses. Interesting culture. I’m also not sure what period these posters are from.
