::shudder:: This is yet another reason why we will never live in an area with an HOA!
We’re in the process of converting our home from blah unsalted farina beige to an attractive green. As low-key as it is, we’ve actually had neighbors mention (casually, in passing, as a joke, you know) that it was against HOA regulations.

I do electrical at HOA’s, and some are rather forgiving, mainly the ones with individual houses and common pool, tennis courts and greenbelt areas.. There are rules, but they aren’t insane. Most of the time…
But when it’s Duplexes and Fourplexes and 30-unit buildings, the exteriors are the HOA’s Only – you don’t have to and you don’t *get* to paint the outside. Or pick a different color tiles for your roof.
