They were a good airline, I was sorry to see them succumb to the economy. The also ran the Hotel Memling, about the only respectable hotel in Kinshasa in 1999-2000, when I was traveling there. I assume they undertook this little enterprise largely for those who flew there on their planes.

All these photos were taken on the sly; photography in the DRC is forbidden. I thought I had seen third-world conditions when I traveled in Egypt, but I saw that in comparison to Kinshasa, Cairo is luxurious indeed.
