A beautiful video by Mike Petty featuring the abandoned Joyland amusement park in Wichita, Kansas. It’s hard to see institutions like this crumble away, but the world is a big place and social forces beyond anyone’s control come into play.

Playing in the World Game 
Perhaps a little more morose than actually called for, but this reminds me of the amusement park in Pripyat in the old Soviet Union which was scheduled to open only four days after the Chernobyl disaster in 1986, and consequently has never even been used. It was featured along with the rest of Pripyat in the first episode of History Channel’s “Life After People”, some 2’45” into this ten minute clip (“20 Years After People”).
