  1. Icy roads – a hazard since we invented the wheel.. And he already bounced off something on the left too – mangled running board and door sill. The curb probably claimed the front wheel, wooden spokes snap rather easily when you side-load them.

    Oh, and you still don’t want to put tire chains on diagonally like that, the uneven traction can cause the spin. No front brakes then, so you really need chains on all four – front to steer, rear to go and stop.. For want of a second $1 pair of chains the $600 car was lost.
